After the release of his single ‘Down Low,’ young up and coming rapper, Ahmed Mohsin, better known through his stage name ‘The Medic,’ has delivered another hype track to get his listeners ready for his yet to be announced, upcoming project.
In the song, the Canadian rapper reveals that he is breaking free of the dark place that he was in, in which he explained in depth on songs such as ‘Lay Awake,’ and the title track off his last EP, Breakdowns & Breakthroughs. This is seen through The Medic’s hard hitting verses, where he talks about his new lifestyle and way of thinking, and in the infectious chorus that is sung by ‘Breana Marin,’ who has in the past worked with one of Mohsin’s musical inspirations, ‘Phora.’
Through ‘Whole Lotta,’ The Medic further continues to portray his new influence from R&B, that he has only recently shown in tracks such as ‘On the Map,’ and ‘Down Low.’ Mohsin has said that his R&B influence comes from artists such as Bryson Tiller and Tory Lanez. This is seen throughout the track with his simple, yet effective melody that follows the chorus, whilst keeping his confident and hard hitting rapping that he does so effortlessly in his verses.
In the past year, Mohsin has not only adapted his sound, but has also progressed the quality of it. ‘Whole Lotta’ is a prime example of The Medic using much heavier and cleaner production, and has polished his mixing majorly since his project Watching Me, which at times struggled to execute these things. Through The Medic improving these factors, allows the listener to be more immersed in the music, and furthermore allows for a more enjoyable listen, as the track is to a high quality.
‘Whole Lotta,’ is another hype track that will get his fans even more excited for his upcoming project. With hard hitting verses, and explosive production, The Medic never fails to keep you interested in what he is going to say next.
