Townsend: Bad Chemistry Asylum Remix track review

In the midst of uninspired monotony, Townsend’s “Bad Chemistry Asylum Remix” delivers a burst of originality and personality into this colourful and atmospheric track.

Right from the start Townsend reveals the first look at this ‘bad chemistry’, describing how his girl “ain’t next to [him]”, and instead of giving a reasonable explanation to why, she instead “curves the blame”. Townsend continues to discuss the shattering of the bond between two lovers, and how impactful this can unfortunately be. He describes the ride that such chemistry can take a relationship on, where a couple can go from completely “vibing”, to spontaneously exploding into chaos.

The track then breaks out into a colourful bliss, implementing elements of EDM and pop to draw together and fuse the song beautifully, an interesting dichotomy to the meaning of the track. Townsend continues to implement personality into each fragment of the chorus, effortlessly manufacturing a pure and concise flow throughout.

However, it is in the second verse where we see the only real shortcoming, with its inclusion failing to add anything to the track. It’s addition aches as a lost opportunity for further dissection of the subject matter. Despite this, the verse does not completely fail to entertain, as it still delivers a catchy and satisfying vibe.

Townsend has clearly demonstrated that he has what it takes to make waves in the game, and we hope to see more of him in the future.
